Ranking Grayson Allen's 3 blatant trips
Grayson Allen was at it again Wednesday night.
The Duke guard received a technical for another trip, before melting down on the sidelines like a toddler.
Allen's leg flailing seems to be irritating everybody but the Blue Devils, but there appears to be no end in sight.
Here are his three trips, ranked from worst to first:
3) Casual upending (vs. Florida State)
This one loses points because of laziness.
Allen casually steps back to trip his opponent without even breaking a sweat, and then barely reacts. The Seminoles player also didn't have the ball, making it unnecessary.
It seemed like Allen simply didn't want to follow his man back on defense.
2) Perfecting the art (vs. Elon)
Draymond Green would be proud of Wednesday's effort.
Allen's form here is second to none, as he manages to maintain his balance while spinning and still gets full extension on his leg and arms. That's not easy.
Let's also take a moment to admire his dedication. This isn't a Final Four matchup against North Carolina we're talking about here, but Allen still felt the desperation to try to trip an opponent in the first half of a December non-conference game in which the Blue Devils were favored by 26. 5 points.
1) Cream of the crop (vs. Louisville)
There was no doubt about this one earning top spot.
Allen is mere feet away from the official and lying on his back, but still had the gall to think he could get away with a blatant trip. The junior proved he's a dual threat - equally proficient at tripping people lying down as he is standing up.
Perhaps one day college basketball will add a new stat for tripping, and Allen will be considered a pioneer.
Honorable mention
This one against Yale in the NCAA tournament didn't receive as much attention because many felt it was an accident.
Was it? Or was Allen just in peak form that day and no one could tell the difference?
