Report: Rose's no-show puts potential contract extension at risk
After mysteriously missing Monday night's contest against the New Orleans Pelicans, Derrick Rose's future in the Big Apple is now in serious doubt.
Not only is Rose's short-term future up in the air, but the chances of him landing a lucrative contract extension with the New York Knicks this summer are now in jeopardy, league sources tell The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.
There is also a possibility that Rose will face suspension for his actions, according to Wojnarowski.
The Knicks have yet to officially announce why Rose was absent, but reports have indicated that being away from his son has taken its toll on the 28-year-old.
While his counting stats remain solid, Rose has been a liability on the other end of the floor this season, and is one of the main reasons why New York sits just 26th in defensive efficiency.
It's still unclear whether Rose will be back in time for Wednesday's bout with the Philadelphia 76ers.
