Maurice Watson Jr.'s college basketball career is over.
The Creighton guard announced Tuesday that he suffered a torn ACL against Xavier, ending his season and career. Watson initially left the game briefly with a knee injury before returning, but went down again not long after that.
There was hope that the injury wasn't severe after Bluejays head coach Greg McDermott said Watson didn't suffer any ligament damage, but Tuesday's MRI ultimately revealed otherwise.
Watson was a key member of the Creighton backcourt, averaging nearly 13 points and 8.5 assists per game this season. He was leading the nation in assists before going down.
