Cousins suspended 1 game, fined $25K for 16th tech
Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins was assessed a one-game suspension without pay, along with a $25,000 fine, for accumulating 16 technical fouls on the season.
He is expected to serve his suspension Wednesday when the Kings host the Boston Celtics.
Cousins was ejected for two separate outbursts in Monday's controversial loss to the Chicago Bulls. Cousins shoved Bulls assistant Jim Boylen during a timeout for his first tech.
Cousins earned his second for berating an official following a perceived missed call in the dying seconds. An uncalled shirt pull by Dwyane Wade allowed him to pick off the inbound pass leading to a dunk which sealed the result. Cousins exploded at the officials coming down the court and was ejected with 1.1 seconds left.
On top of the suspension, Cousins was fined $25,000 for a separate incident that occurred last week against the Golden State Warriors. He made an inappropriate gesture while leaving the court in an overtime win over their California rivals.
