Durant mocks OKC boos: 'I actually thought it would be a little louder'
Kevin Durant was all too happy to play the role of villain in his much-anticipated Oklahoma City homecoming.
Durant was treated to boos from the moment he set foot in Chesapeake Energy Arena Saturday and was lustily jeered each time he touched the ball, but he got the last laugh.
Not only did Durant score 34 points along with nine rebounds and three assists, KD also put the game on ice with a pull-up 30-footer over Russell Westbrook, then threw shade on OKC fans after the game.
"I actually thought it would be a little louder," Durant said of the boos. "But it was fun. To be on the other side of it, to become one of these guys when they boo you, it's kinda fun. I gotta embrace it, that's all I can do."
Durant was thoroughly accosted in his return, but some of OKC's spirit was drained as it became clear by halftime that they were no match for the stacked Warriors. Durant was ridiculed for being a "cupcake" and whatnot, but the results speak for themselves.
The Warriors are 3-0 against the Thunder this season having won by a combined 63 points. The fans can say what they want, but that's exactly why Durant jumped ship, so that he could finally be on the winning side.
