Report: Knicks rescind Oakley's arena ban

The New York Knicks have lifted the arena ban imposed on popular former star Charles Oakley, according to ESPN's Stephen A. Smith and The Undefeated's Mike Wise.

The news comes two days after commissioner Adam Silver intervened with the assistance of Michael Jordan, summoning Oakley and Knicks owner James Dolan to the NBA offices to encourage them to settle their dispute.

Although the ban's been lifted, Oakley said he's not willing to accept an invite to Madison Square Garden from Dolan, as per ESPN's Dan Le Batard.

Oakley was forcibly removed from Madison Square Garden last Wednesday, and arrested and charged on counts of assault and trespassing. He resisted efforts from security to remove him from his seats - which were located near Dolan - after being instructed to leave for verbally abusive behavior toward security.

It was announced that night that Oakley was banned indefinitely.

Following Monday's meeting with Silver, the NBA announced that both Oakley and Dolan expressed regret for their actions, and that Dolan hoped Oakley would return to Madison Square Garden soon.
