Injury ends Durant's incredible double-digit scoring streak

A hyperextended knee suffered during the opening moments of Tuesday's road outing against the Washington Wizards not only ended Golden State Warriors All-Star Kevin Durant's night early, but also put the kibosh on a remarkable streak that he'd been carrying for nearly seven years.

The four-time scoring champion was ruled out for the remainder of the game after just one minute of action, missing his only shot attempt and failing to register a single point.

As a result, Durant's streak of 562 games with double-digit points has met its demise.

The last time the 28-year-old didn't score 10 or more points in a game was on Feb. 27, 2009, when he dropped six in seven minutes as a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder against the Dallas Mavericks. As was the case in Washington, an injury forced Durant to leave that game early after rolling his ankle during the opening quarter.

Since entering the league as the second overall pick in 2007, Durant had scored in single digits on just eight occasions prior to facing the Wizards on Tuesday, six of which came during his rookie year.

In 58 appearances during his first year with the Warriors, Durant is averaging 25.8 points on 53.8 percent shooting from the field and 37.8 percent from 3-point range, along with 8.4 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.7 blocks in 34.1 minutes.
