Cook 'willing to answer every question' about checkered legal past

Dalvin Cook didn't come to the NFL Scouting Combine to hide anything.

The highly rated Florida State product is hoping to be the first running back selected at the draft and he knows that given his lengthy list of legal troubles, he'll have to answer some tough questions before that happens.

"Like I tell every team, I'm open and willing to answer every question," Cook said Thursday, according to ESPN's Michael DiRocco. "I ain't hiding nothing. If they ask, I'm willing to answer.

"I'm willing to move forward to be a better person."

Cook's legal troubles date back to high school. He was arrested as a juvenile and charged with robbery in 2009 and then arrested a year later for firing a weapon and possession of a weapon at an event on school property. All charges were dropped or abandoned.

In 2014, Cook was charged with criminal mischief for an incident with a BB gun causing property damage. He was also reportedly issued a citation for a violation animal care, a month after the BB gun incident.

In 2015, the running back was accused of punching a woman outside a Tallahassee bar, was charged with misdemeanor battery, and suspended from the football team. After being found not guilty he returned to the team and has not had any run-ins with the law since.

Cook will meet with many teams at the combine this week and confirmed Thursday that questions about his legal past have come up "a pretty decent amount of times" in his interviews so far, though not every team has asked.
