Obi Melifonwu posts jaw-dropping combine scores across the board
Obi Melifonwu is a freak among freaks.
The Connecticut safety put on a show during the measurable portion of combine workouts Monday, starting off with some incredible scores in both the vertical and broad jumps.
A broad jump of 11-foot-9 stands as the second-best mark among defensive backs dating back to 2006, behind only the 12-foot-3 record leap of Byron Jones in 2015.
The slow-motion look is mesmerizing.
He almost jumped TOO far!

This is crazy: Obi Melifonwu (DB - @UConnFootball) broad jumps 11'9"!!! #NFLCombine pic.twitter.com/uWo06moyb7
Melifonwu's 44-inch vertical, meanwhile, ties him for third-highest at the position over that span.
The sensational performance in drills directly correlated with explosiveness becomes all the more impressive considering the fact that he checked in at 6-foot-4, 224-pounds upon arriving at the combine.
After following up the jumps with an unofficial 40-yard dash time of 4.40, it's safe to assume Melifonwu will be skyrocketing up draft boards looking ahead to April.
Be it as a safety, cornerback, or even an occasional matchup linebacker in sub packages, teams will undoubtedly be able to find a suitable role for that rare kind of athleticism.
