Report: PSG 'seemed dead' on despondent flight back to France
While much of the attention following Wednesday's historic result has focused on Barcelona and its star-studded squad, little consideration has been paid to Paris Saint-Germain on the heels of one of football's worst collapses.

PSG gaffer Unai Emery was melancholic in addressing the capitulation post-match, while club chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi was a bitter cocktail of sorrow and acrimony.
"I can not find the words. We have failed in our mission. Now it's done. We can do nothing more," Emery said, courtesy of RMC Sport's Mohamed Bouhafsi.
Bouhafsi adds that a team employee mentioned Al-Khelaifi's reaction, saying, "I've never seen him like that. His face barren as he looked into the void."
That reception was prevalent both in the locker room and on the club's 2:30 a.m. flight back to Paris. Bouhafsi describes a painful silence, where players shocked by the 6-1 result kept to themselves. On the plane, the unnamed PSG staffer describes "the worst after-match atmosphere" and a mood "incomparable to last year after the elimination against Manchester City."
Thiago Silva, who had a disastrous match, sat silent for the duration of the flight with a cap blocking his face. Only unused substitutes Presnel Kimpembe and Hatem Ben Arfa made an effort to console their mates, and even those attempts were for nowt. Gluttons for punishment, Bouhafsi adds that some players scanned social media for celebrations from Barca players. Adrien Rabiot, who like Silva was uncharacteristically poor Wednesday at the Camp Nou, would have been taken aback by a particular Instagram reply from Neymar.
Upon their arrival at the Bourget airport, north-east of the French capital, PSG players and staff were met by throngs of enraged supporters. Ben Arfa and Blaise Matudi were heckled by fans, and only goal-scorer Edinson Cavani was spared the insults his teammates received.
Matters at the airport were set to go from unfortunate to undesirable, as midfielder Thiago Motta struck a fan with his car. The PSG supporter was promptly taken to a Saint-Denis hospital with back and arm injuries, with RMC reporting that the injured fan was blocking Motta's exit from the airport.
"These individuals verbally insulted the players before vandalising their cars," a club statement announced Thursday.
"In this extremely hostile and aggressive climate, all vehicles were escorted to ensure the safe passage of the players, their families and club staff members," the statement reads. "One individual was struck by a car trying to escape the crowd that was physically threatening the players and their families."
The statement adds, "a police investigation is underway to establish exactly what happened," as one of the club's worst nights continued well beyond the debauchery at Camp Nou.
