Snubbed handshakes, scuffles highlight UFC London weigh-ins
The fireworks at UFC Fight Night 107's ceremonial weigh-ins were supplied by the undercard.
Marc Diakese has made a habit of blatantly disrespecting his opponents, and predictably kicked off the antics during Friday's proceedings, snubbing not one, but two of his gentlemanly lightweight foe Teemu Packalen's handshake offers.
Heavyweights Daniel Omielanczuk and Timothy Johnson responded with some levity, engaging in a mock scuffle during their staredown. The pair of behemoths aren't exactly known as purveyors of barn burners, and likely already outdid whatever will transpire in their upcoming bout with the "altercation."
The ritual took yet another left turn when light heavyweights Darren Stewart and Francimar Barroso faced off ahead of their rematch. Stewart ignored Barroso's move for a handshake before getting a little too close to the Brazilian, who promptly responded to the show of gamesmanship with a shove.
Their November meeting was initially ruled a flash TKO win for Stewart, but was later overturned to a no-contest after it was determined an inadvertent headbutt had preceded the stoppage.
Frustrating presiding matchmaker Sean Shelby had become the weigh-ins' theme by the time featherweight prospects Arnold Allen and Makwan Amirkhani tipped the scales, and the pair kept the hullabaloo going with a mock confrontation of their own. The fighters were obviously pleased with themselves, while a fed up Shelby merely washed his hands of it all and got out of the way.
