Kevin Owens becomes United States Champion at WrestleMania 33

"You were never my best friend. You're a piece of trash."

Kevin Owens angrily shouted those words at Chris Jericho on Sunday at WrestleMania 33, dishing a final emotional blow to his opponent before the self-proclaimed prized fighter delivered a literal blow with a powerbomb onto the ring apron.

With that, Owens was able to exact his revenge, defeating Y2J to become the new WWE United States Champion.

It was last month at Fastlane when a distraction from Jericho led to Owens losing his Universal Championship to Bill Goldberg after holding the gold for 188 days.

Jericho nearly had the match won Sunday after driving Owens' face into his knee with a Codebreaker. However, Owens was able to get his finger on the bottom rope to break up the pinfall.

Having rolled to the outside, Owens then kicked Jericho in the leg, setting him up for the powerbomb to seal the deal after rolling him back inside the ring.

This is Owens' first reign as United States Champion. Jericho won the gold Jan. 9 in a two-on-one handicap match against Roman Reigns.
