LeBron on Celtics meeting: 'I'm the last person to ask about a regular-season game'
The Cleveland Cavaliers will take on the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night, in what should be one of the bigger games of the regular-season's final week - a game that will very likely determine which team goes into the playoffs as the Eastern Conference's No. 1 seed.
Just don't ask LeBron James about the implications of said game. After six straight trips to the Finals, including three championships, he's grown a bit farsighted where annual goals are concerned.
"I've played in a lot of big games, man," James told reporters after Tuesday night's Cavs win, when the specter of the ensuing Celtics matchup was invoked. "I'm the last person to ask about a big game in the regular season. I'm sorry."
James did tip his cap to the Celtics, who've won nine of their last 11 to give the Cavs a serious run for No. 1, and should be the fresher team Wednesday, when they'll be on two days' rest compared to the Cavs' zero. Still, James isn't going to lose sleep over the looming challenge.
"They're gonna have a lot of energy, their crowd is gonna be great," James said. "That's a very good team we're playing against tomorrow, we know that. Taking nothing from them, they've been playing some great ball. But like I said, I'm not one to get caught up in regular-season big games and that, I'm sorry.
