George unimpressed with Game 1 finish: 'I've got to get the last shot'

Paul George wants the ball in his hands with the game on the line.

After watching C.J. Miles miss out on a potential game-winner against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday, the 6-foot-9 small forward made it abundantly clear he expects to have the ball in crunch time.

"I talked to C.J. about it, situations like that, I've got to get the last shot," George told reporters following the contest.

While George initially gave the ball up, he says he expected to get it right back, giving the Cavaliers little time to attempt another double team. Instead, Miles took it upon himself to try to win the game, hitting nothing but rim as the Indiana Pacers fell 109-108.

"I was asking for it," George said. "I was trying to give it up and force them to scramble back to the open man so I can get it back. At the time, there's not enough seconds on the clock for them to try to double-team again."

The 26-year-old clarified that he still believes in his teammates, but doesn't expect them to play hero ball late in the game.

"I'm confident in all my guys taking shots, that's not the issue," he added. "But in that situation, I've gotta get that."
