Liverpool CEO Peter Moore revealed he stayed at a Naples hospital with a fan who was apparently attacked before the Premier League team's Champions League match on Tuesday.

The Liverpool supporter was allegedly ambushed in a bar ahead of his team's loss to Napoli.

Moore responded to an appeal for someone to check on the fan, identified as Steven Allen, who apparently attended the match but was admitted to Ospedale Cardarelli after collapsing due to "significant blood loss" at the San Paolo Stadium.

"I'm at the hospital with Steven right now," Moore posted on Twitter. "We will not leave him until we are comfortable that he's fine, so can everyone stop worrying for now.

"Trying to get him seen by a doctor, but there's a distinct lack of urgency here from the police and medical staff."

An hour later, Moore added: "The hospital staff and the police have now helped Steven and been very cooperative. He's been seen and will be monitored throughout the night. He asked me to thank everyone for their concern."

Merseyside Police claimed two Liverpool fans suffered injuries during an attack in Naples that involved a group of men on scooters assaulting supporters at a bar. It's unclear if this is the same incident in which Allen was injured.

"Two men from the UK, aged 26 and 46, sustained superficial cuts and grazes to the head and were treated at the scene before continuing to attend the match," a police spokesperson said, according to The Telegraph.

"Local police are aware and Merseyside Police are working with police colleagues in Naples to assist in the policing of the Champions League fixture tonight."

Tuesday's incident comes almost a year-and-a-half after Reds supporter Sean Cox suffered life-altering injuries during an attack outside of Anfield ahead of Liverpool's Champions League semifinal encounter with Roma.

In April 2018, Cox was the victim of an unprovoked attack by Italian hooligans, which left him with a serious brain injury. He was put in a coma and was unable to speak for months afterward.

Liverpool held a charity match in April, which featured club legends taking on a Republic of Ireland XI in support of Cox, who thanked supporters in a video ahead of the game.
