Morris twins plan on remaining teammates for the rest of their NBA careers
It didn't take long for Markieff Morris and his twin brother Marcus Morris to end up playing on the same NBA team.
After only a season and a half in the league, Marcus was traded to the Suns, where his brother Markieff had been playing since being drafted by Phoenix in 2011. And now that they're reunited, the two brothers are determined to spend the remainder of their NBA careers playing together.
"We vowed that we work so hard that it will never happen again," Markieff told Yahoo! Sports. "You never know how it will happen or how it's going to go. We are cherishing this time."
The twins, who live together, share the same tattoos and facial hair, with the only obvious difference being the 10 pounds and one inch Markieff has on his brother.
"When something happens good or bad, everyone knows who I am going to first [to talk] and who he is going to first," Marcus said. "It's not even a question. I'm going to be right there. He's going to be right there."
When they were drafted by different teams, Marcus said it took a day for the reality of being separated to hit him.
"You've been with a guy your entire life and then you realize this could lead to separation for a long time," Marcus said. 'We were happy for each other, but there was the thought in the back of our minds that we wouldn't be together."
But the two are now both playing for the Suns, something they believe is beneficial to improving each other's game.
"Imagine a guy playing with you every single game you played your whole life," Markieff said. "You have that connection with each other. It's like a team inside of a team. He's the one guy I know for sure who is not going to sugar coat anything good or bad. I always look to him for confirmation."
