Maple Leafs F Joffrey Lupul 'perplexed' by goaltender interference standard
The reeling Toronto Maple Leafs are losers of four in a row and the frustration must be mounting.
On Saturday night the Toronto Maple Leafs lost to the Montreal Canadiens by a final score of 4-2. The game might have been closer, however, if not for a disallowed goal in the first period.
Injured Maple Leafs winger was clearly still frustrated while thinking about that after the game, and tweeted about his confusion several hours after the final buzzer:
It makes sense that the Maple Leafs would be particularly frustrated by goaltender interference calls at the moment, as they've been on the wrong end of a couple of borderline calls over the past three games.
Earlier this week Pittsburgh forward Evgeni Malkin tied a game against the Leafs after rather clearly pitchforking Leafs goalie Jonathan Bernier into the net. Meanwhile Toronto's disallowed goal on Saturday night was questionable, to put it mildly.
