Kobe and Rondo have profane appreciation for each other
Rajon Rondo and Kobe Bryant are kindred spirits, it seems.
Both blessed and cursed with an inextinguishable competitive fire and incredible intensity, the two stars have at times come off as prickly and hard to work with. But they've both been very successful, too, and are beloved by fans and respected by peers.
That respect is present between the two, as well. Sort of a takes one to understand one kinda thing.
On Friday, Bryant spoke before the Lakers and Celtics squared off, though Bryant was, of course, absent from the game due to injury. Asked about how Rondo may respond to playing on a now-rebuilding squad, Bryant gave a rare but profane compliment:
Shortly after, Rondo would make his return for the Celtics. Though the Lakers came out on top, Rondo's first game in nearly a year can only be considered a success.
While most post-game questions understandably focused on his return, Rondo was, of course, asked about Bryant calling him an asshole:
Now that's mutual respect.
