VIDEO: Spurs coach Gregg Popovich has heartwarming message for Craig Sager
An appearance on TNT for the San Antonio Spurs generally means the television audience is treated to one of the most entertaining bits the NBA has going, as colorfully-clad sideline reporter Craig Sager engages in a vigorous piece of banter with curmudgeonly head coach Gregg Popovich.
But with the recent revelation that the beloved Sager will not take part in the network's playoff coverage after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, Popovich used the time typically afforded for their interview to pay a fitting tribute.
After answering question posed to him by Sager's son, Craig Jr., who was deputizing in his father's stead, Popovich delivered a heartwarming message to his playful adversary during Game 1 of the Spurs' series against Dallas.
That's perfect.
The younger Sager also noted on Twitter that Popovich had a personalized gift for his father.
The rivalry between the two men has always been tongue-in-cheek, and you can certainly tell that Popovich is nothing but sincere in his message.
