New York Yankees starting pitcher Michael Pineda was ejected from Wednesday night's game against the Boston Red Sox for having pine tar on his neck, and further punishment came down Thursday afternoon.
MLB announced a 10-game suspension for Pineda for possessing a foreign substance on his person.
With the Yankees due to take an off-day on Monday, it is likely that the they will only need to fill his spot in the rotation once.
If he accepts the suspension, Pineda will be eligible to return Monday, May 5 against the Los Angeles Angels.
