New Carolina Hurricanes general manager Ron Francis' first decision on the job was made in swift and devastating fashion, as the team announced today that he relieved Kirk Muller, along with assistants John MacLean and Dave Lewis, of their coaching duties.
Francis issued this statement regarding their dismissal via the team's official website:
"We thank Kirk, John and Dave for their time and effort during the past three seasons. Kirk and his staff worked very hard, but we feel that the team is in need of a fresh start at this time."
Muller leaves after compiling an 80-80-27 record in two and a half seasons patrolling the Hurricanes bench.
