Report: Penguins eyeing Crosby's agent Pat Brisson as new GM
The Pittsburgh Penguins are apparently beginning their general manager search with a name they know well.
TSN's Bob McKenzie is reporting the Penguins are considering player agent Pat Brisson, whose clients include Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, for the position.
Brisson is the co-head of Creative Artists Agency's hockey division, which represents an impressive roster of current and future stars, including both Henrik and Daniel Sedin, Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Anze Kopitar, Matt Duchene, Claude Giroux, John Tavares, Seth Jones and Nathan MacKinnon, along with Crosby and Malkin.
Considering the names (and endorsement deals) Brisson works with as an agent, taking a general manager position would likely involve a large pay cut. Brisson could also look at the failed tenure of former player agent Mike Gillis with the Vancouver Canucks as a cautionary tale and decide to play it safe.
