Wild announce extension with head coach Mike Yeo
Continuing to lead the Minnesota Wild in the right direction, head coach Mike Yeo was rewarded for his efforts Saturday, agreeing to a multi-year contract extension with the upstart club.
Since being hired in 2011, the Wild have seen progressive improvements under Yeo each season. After missing the playoffs in his first year behind the bench, Minnesota was bounced in the first round last season before taking the Chicago Blackhawks to six games in their second-round series this year.
The third coach in franchise history, Yeo boasts the team's best winning percentage. His .552 mark betters that of his predecessors, Jacques Lemaire and Todd Richards.
Terms of the deal have not yet been announced, but Michael Russo of The Minneapolis Star Tribune believes that it will be for three years at nearly $3 million.
