Blue Jays expect Lind to return in 2-3 weeks after seeking 2nd opinion on foot

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Toronto Blue Jays expect designated hitter Adam Lind to return to action much sooner than originally anticipated after receiving a second opinion on the slugger's fractured foot.

Lind was examined in Charlotte by Dr. Robert Anderson, who informed the Blue Jays their DH could be back in the lineup in two-to-three weeks. The original diagnosis placed Lind's recovery time at closer to two months.

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons also poured cold water on the report Lind's mother was the one who urged him to get an MRI on his injured foot.

Lind is slashing .320/.389/.489 with four homers and 16 doubles over 198 plate appearances.
