Blue Jays' John Gibbons says Brandon Morrow's future may be in the bullpen

Jesse Johnson / USA TODAY Sports

The Toronto Blue Jays' beleaguered bullpen may be on the verge of receiving a necessary jolt for September, and possibly beyond.

Moving a starter to the pen is a strategy that's worked for the Jays before; former starters Brett Cecil and Dustin McGowan have been two of Toronto's more-reliable arms in relief this season.

Morrow, a former closer with the Seattle Mariners, has been gradually working toward a return after tearing a tendon sheath in his index finger in May.

The oft-injured fire-baller, who has a $10-million team option for 2015, has missed significant time in each of the last three seasons.
