Byron Scott reveals his preferred Lakers starters

Jason Miller / US PRESSWIRE

Byron Scott plans on letting the 2014-15 Lakers know that he's interested in winning a championship, but listing off his likely starting lineup for the season may quell those expectations over time.

While Scott revealed what his opening message to the team would be, he also talked about his potential starting lineup.

Via Mark Medina of the LA Daily News:

Scott will spend training camp figuring out his starting lineup, which he says will currently feature [Steve] Nash, [Kobe] Bryant, Carlos Boozer and Jordan Hill. He is leaning toward starting Wesley Johnson at small forward because of his defensive potential and relying on Nick Young’s prolific scoring off the bench.

Having two Hall of Famers in Bryant and Nash, plus a former All-Star in Boozer in your starting five, along with Young's scoring ability off the bench, ensures some name recognition, but Nash, Bryant and Boozer are 40, 36 and 32, respectively. Also, it's tough to see how this Lakers roster will even begin to defend adequately.

A poor defensive team, led by the aging duo on the offensive end isn't exactly what playoff teams are made of in the unforgiving Western Conference, let alone what champions are made of.
