Ribery confirms international retirement despite Platini's threat: 'My stance does not change'

Franck Ribery is not concerned with threats from UEFA president Michel Platini that he may face a suspension unless he reneges on his decision to retire from international competition.

Ribery, who announced that his time playing for France had come to an end shortly after missing the World Cup through injury, has been at the centre of an odd debate between Platini and Bayern Munich of late.

The legendary French playmaker claims that Ribery could face a three-match ban unless he overturns his decision and makes himself available for Les Bleus in the future.

Unperturbed, Ribery spoke with German paper Die Welt on Thursday, confirming that his decision is final.

ESPN FC has the details:

"I've already said that I will retire. And that's also agreed with the France coach Didier Deschamps. In the future, I want to fully focus on FC Bayern. I don't know how I can say any more about it. My stance does not change. And I'm not concerned with all the politics around this issue."
