Orioles' Jimenez to make spot start Tuesday vs. Blue Jays

Baltimore Orioles right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez will get an opportunity Tuesday to bolster his case for a return to the rotation when he takes the mound for a spot start against the Toronto Blue Jays, according to MASN's Roch Kubatko.

Jimenez, a former All-Star who signed a four-year, $50-million deal with the Orioles last winter, was relegated to the bullpen last month after laboring to a 4.83 ERA through his first 20 starts with Baltimore. Control issues plagued Jimenez this season, as he managed a 13.6 percent walk rate while allowing 14 home runs over 110 innings (1.15 per nine) as a starter.

Jimenez has made just two relief appearances since joining the bullpen and hasn't pitched since Aug. 31. His most recent outing was decidedly disappointing, as he allowed three earned runs while recording just one out in a 12-8 victory over the Minnesota Twins.
