Mariners' Elias to undergo MRI on strained elbow

Seattle Mariners rookie Roenis Elias will undergo an MRI on Wednesday after leaving Tuesday's start against the Los Angeles Angels in the fourth inning with discomfort in his left elbow.

"They don't seem too concerned, but they are going to do an MRI for precautionary measures," manager Lloyd McClendon told MLB.com. "Hopefully he should be OK. But I would say it's highly unlikely that he'll make his next start."

Elias has been one of Seattle's top starters since the All-Star break, allowing two earned runs or fewer in each of his last nine starts before Tuesday's unfortunate outing. Though the 26-year-old has logged a career-high 163 2/3 innings this season, he insisted Tuesday that his injury is not related to fatigue.

"No, no. I'm not getting tired," Elias said. "It's just part of the game and I'll keep working hard."
