Facial recognition software puts you in an Oregon Ducks uniform
The University of Oregon has partnered with Intel Corporation to create Oregon Ducks avatars, according to the team's official website.
Available in Intel's Pocket Avatar app, the avatars can be used to communicate with Ducks fans anytime, anywhere.
"We are excited to be on the leading edge of a new technology ready to explode,” Craig Pintens, Senior Associate Athletic Director, said. “A special thanks to Intel for thinking of us and allowing us to be their first collegiate partner. We look forward to seeing how creative our fans will get with Pocket Avatars."
Pocket Avatars is a messaging application that offers users a unique communication experience. Duck fans are able to select "Speedy," a player avatar, and use him to record personal, 3-D video messages via text, email or social networks.
