Yankees' Teixeira leaves game vs. Blue Jays with wrist injury

Anthony Gruppuso / USA TODAY Sports

New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira has encountered another setback with his surgically repaired right wrist. MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports he was taken out of the game with a "sore" right wrist to be examined by team physician Chris Ahmad.

The slugger exited Saturday's contest with the Toronto Blue Jays in the seventh inning in favor of Brendan Ryan.

Teixeira played in just 15 games last season due to the injury and missed clumps of games this year because of recurring soreness.

The 34-year-old has three years remaining on his contract and is still owed $67.5 million by the team.
