Jets' Frolik hoping to iron out long-term extension during season

Michael Frolik is eager to get back to the bargaining table.

He avoided a bitter contract dispute this summer - agreeing to a one-year, $3.3-million deal with the Winnipeg Jets - but is still eyeing the long-term deal he failed to negotiate following his renaissance season.

"We were talking about the longer term, but a couple of numbers didn't match up," Frolik said via the Winnipeg Free Press. "I think we can start talking again in (January). But I am happy here and if something came up longer-term, I would be happy to do it."

Frolik's $3.3-million deal represents his highest income in seven NHL seasons, but his performance last year indicates he could have commanded better. That said, it can be argued his "play-for-pay" standing is justified by the fact that he hadn't hit the double-digit mark in goals since 2009-10 before last season.
