Oregon State's Victor Bolden out vs. USC with finger injury

Oregon State's leading receiver, Victor Bolden, won't play in the Beavers' Pac-12 opener Saturday vs. USC, it was reported in the Oregonian on Sunday.

Oregon State coach Mike Riley said a finger injury would keep Bolden out for 10-14 days, an injury he suffered in the first half of a win over San Diego State on Saturday night.

So far this year, Bolden has caught 18 passes for 192 yards and one touchdown.

The injury was one of many health-related setbacks for the Beavers against SDSU. Bolden's backup, Rahmel Dockery, and tight end Kellen Clute missed large portions of the game with hip pointer injuries.

The Oregonian's Gina Mizell also reported that OSU coaches are considering burning true freshman Xavier Hawkins' redshirt. From Mizell: "Hawkins got a heavy does of reps at flanker during fall camp - many with the first team - while Bolden and Dockery nursed minor injuries."

Dockery and Clute, meanwhile, could practice as early as Monday.
