Friday's friendly between the United States and Ecuador will mark Landon Donovan's farewell match as he'll make one final appearance for his national team before hanging up the international cleats.

Donovan, who will also retire from club football at the end of the MLS season, boasts the most prolific international career of any American player having notched a record 57 goals and 58 assists in 156 appearances.

The farewell match will be an understandably emotional occasion for the player who featured at three consecutive World Cups (2002, 2006, 2010) and raised the profile of the beautiful game in the U.S. to a new level. U.S. Soccer fittingly released a video on Wednesday that traces Donovan's rise from the team's U-17 ranks all the way to his most recent international goal against Mexico.
