Capitals' Green will miss Thursday's season opener with upper-body injury

Washington Capitals defenseman Mike Green will miss Thursday's season opener against the Montreal Canadiens with an upper-body injury.
Green confirmed the decision to Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post, indicating the injury doesn't appear to be overly serious: "More so (coach) Barry (Trotz) just being smart about it."
Trotz optimistic that Green can play at Boston on Saturday, but if not then definitely for the homestand next week. "He's close."

Green is entering the final year of his contract with the Capitals and is looking to bounce back from a rather underwhelming 38-point performance last season.
