Welcome to the The Week That Was, where we recap the newsworthy happenings in the NBA over the past seven days.

NBA signs $24-billion TV deal

On Monday, the NBA announced the signing of a nine-year extension of their media contract with Disney and Turner. The extension, worth a reported $24 billion, will tide the league over until 2024-25.

The new deal, which kicks into effect at the start of the 2016-17 season, significantly dwarfs the value of the NBA's current national broadcast deal. This influx of revenue will likely translate into a significantly higher salary cap figure for teams going forward.

Kevin Durant out for 6-8 weeks due to foot fracture

Last's season's most valuable player Kevin Durant will be out of action for the next few weeks due to a Jones fracture in his right foot. The injury will likely force Durant to miss the first quarter of the season.

Without Durant, the Oklahoma City Thunder will have to make significant changes to fill his sizable void. Look for point guard Russell Westbrook, combo guard Reggie Jackson and power forward Serge Ibaka to shoulder a bigger load on offense.

Pacers extend head coach Frank Vogel

The Indiana Pacers locked up head coach Frank Vogel to a multi-year extension, the team announced on Wednesday. Terms of his deal were not disclosed.

Vogel has overseen the Pacers' rise to prominence over the last four seasons. He boasts an impressive winning percentage of 62.5 through 267 regular season games and helped the Pacers capture the best record in the Eastern Conference last season.

Bradley Beal out 6 weeks after wrist fracture

The Washington Wizards will have to tread water for the first month of the season, as starting shooting guard Bradley Beal will miss six weeks after undergoing surgery to correct his fractured left wrist.

In Beal's absence, look for Washington to turn to one of its youngsters, Glen Rice Jr. or Otto Porter. Both Rice and Porter have little NBA experience under their belt, but the Wizards are close to the luxury tax, meaning finding a replacement in free agency is unlikely.

Report: Nuggets ink Faried to 4-year extension

Fresh off his impressive appearance at the FIBA World Cup, Denver Nuggets power forward Kenneth Faried reportedly landed himself a four-year extension worth $48 million.

The 24-year-old forward enjoyed a breakout campaign towards the end of last season. In his final 22 games played, Faried posted per-game averages of 20 points and 11.1 rebounds.
