Newcastle midfielder Jonas Gutierrez continues to be very open to discussing his fight with testicular cancer.

The 31-year-old, who revealed his diagnosis last month, has remained active on social media as he battles the disease. On Sunday he was back on Twitter to document his involvement in a marathon that took place in his home country of Argentina.

Gutierrez partook in the 42-kilometre race to help raise money for cancer charity FUCA (Foundation for Research, Teaching and Cancer Prevention). Following the event, he sent out his thanks to those who supported him.

"Thank you very much to all the participants of the Buenos Aires Marathon 42K for the support and encouragement during the race," he tweeted in Spanish.

This photo was taken during the event, and made its way onto Gutierrez's Twitter account.

The race came after Gutierrez saw the Argentine national team hold up a banner showing their support prior to their friendly match against Brazil on the weekend.
