Swag Watch Roundup: Eastern Washington sizzles, Oregon fizzles

Steven Bisig / USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to Swag Watch, a weekly round up of the hottest and lamest looks in U.S. College football. Whether the team changes the entire outfit, or just acquires a new face mask, all looks are not created equal.

Hit of the Week: Eastern Washington's patriotic gear

Who are the Eastern Washington Eagles? Those guys in the cool new patriotic uniforms!

Eastern Washington took uniform designs to another level by debuting beautiful new Military Appreciation uniforms for Saturday's game against Northern Colorado.

The uniforms feature black helmets with the school's logo, American flag-themed, black jerseys with the flag design on the shoulders and interlocking old glory gloves.

Honorable Mention: Illinois 'Gray Ghost'

Illinois called their new alternate uniforms for Oct. 25 Homecoming "gray ghost," and players knew they were in for something special.

The Fighting Illini's new uniforms feature full gray pants and a gray jersey with navy blue accents. The helmet is white with chrome accents.

This uniform looks pretty great, but the players' reaction to the reveal is even better:

Miss the Mark: Oregon's 'The Pick'

Oregon unveiled new throwback uniforms to honor "The Pick" from the Ducks' 1994 season.

That year, freshman defensive back Kenny Wheaton picked off Damon Huard of No. 9 Washington to cement a 31-20 upset win. Fans of Oregon generally see both the game and play as events that helped turn a losing program into a powerhouse.

The uniforms are not bad, but from Oregon, a powerhouse program that unveils a fancy new uniform almost every week, a lot more was expected.
