After throwing his third touchdown of Sunday night's game against the San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning stands alone atop the list of the NFL's all-time passers.

With an eight-yard strike to Demaryius Thomas, Manning tallied the 509th passing touchdown of his career, breaking the record of 508 set by former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre.

Manning's historic mark comes in his 246th career start, compared to the 298 it took Favre to accomplish his feat.

Favre and many others, including NBA stars LeBron James and Kevin Durant, took to Twitter to pass along their congratulations:

Following the game, Manning spoke about the accomplishment as one not only belonging to him, but to the team as a whole: "It's special because of the way our team played ... It's a team effort, a team record," he said.
