Buccaneers coach downplays Vincent Jackson trade rumors

After reports surfaced over the weekend that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were fielding calls from other NFL teams about wide receiver Vincent Jackson, head coach Lovie Smith did his best to downplay the situation Monday.

Smith didn't exactly deny the team's willingness to make a move if the right deal came along, however, as taking calls for and actively trying to move a particular player are two different things entirely.

Jackson will turn 32 at the end of this season, but there is no denying that he can still play at a high level and could be a valuable asset to a contending team.

The 10-year veteran is once again leading the Buccaneers in receiving through six games to start the season, hauling in 25 passes for 344 yards and two touchdowns.
