Fantasy: Trading Post - Don't forget about Fred Jackson

The seventh week of the NFL season didn't see much in the way of injuries, meaning fantasy owners may need to look to the trading block to enhance their teams.

Here's a look at players worth targeting this week, and others who might be worth selling off.

Geno Smith

Week 7 line: 20-of-34, 226 yards, TD, 37 rushing yards

While the Jets' offense hasn't exactly shined this season, Smith should get a nice bump in the coming weeks with the addition of Percy Harvin.

Now backed by a group of pass-catchers that includes Harvin, Jeremy Kerley, an emerging Jace Amaro and Eric Decker, who is getting closer to full health each week, the Jets' passing attack looks to be a unit fantasy owners will want to buy into.

Smith was one of the top fantasy scorers at his position down the stretch last season, and while his home/road splits leave a lot to be desired, he'll be available for cheap and should offer good value to fantasy owners, particularly those in two-quarterback leagues. VERDICT: BUY

Russell Wilson

Week 7 line: 23-of-36, 313 yards, 2 TDs, 106 rushing yards, TD

Wilson had a pair of brilliant performances over the last three weeks, but the issue with him as a fantasy commodity is that the Seahawks too often find themselves in the lead and move away from the pass.

Prior to Sunday's game, Wilson was averaging 195.6 passing yards per game, and outside of his two 100-yard rushing efforts, he's averaging 24.8 rushing yards per game. He's also ran for a touchdown in three consecutive weeks after scoring on the ground in three of his first 35 career games. VERDICT: SELL

Fred Jackson

Week 7 line: 3 carries, 12 yards, 3 receptions, 16 yards

Jackson's reaction to the groin injury he suffered in Sunday's win over the Minnesota Vikings left onlookers with the impression that his season was over, but he's expected to return in two-to-four weeks.

The short end of that timetable would have him miss only one game and return in Week 10 following the team's bye. The long end would still have him back in time to get a couple of games in before the fantasy playoffs.

The Bills have a tough slate of games in front of them which likely means Bryce Brown won't be overly impressive as a fill-in, meaning Jackson should return to a significant role.

For owners with a bench spot to spare, better to fill it with a player that will certainly be a contributor come the fantasy playoffs than a handcuff that might not be. VERDICT: BUY

Denard Robinson

Week 7 line: 22 carries, 127 yards, TD

For those lucky enough to win the Denard Robinson sweepstakes on the waiver wire this week, a few notes.

First, Bryce Brown and Tre Mason were probably the better adds, so hopefully they were higher up on your waiver priority.

Second, the Cleveland Browns, who Robinson lit up on Sunday, rate out as the second-worst rush defense on Pro Football Focus.

Third, Robinson is in an awful position and, while he's surely in for some added looks going forward, he's still not likely to see more than 10-15 touches per game behind a bad offensive line. Get out while there's still a market for him. VERDICT: SELL

Cecil Shorts III

While guys like Allen Robinson and Marqise Lee may be the sexier names in the Jaguars' receiving corps, Shorts has been the apple of Blake Bortles's eye.

In three full games this season, Shorts has attracted 10, 16 and nine targets, bringing in 18 balls in those contests.

While he hasn't been able to do a whole lot with those targets just yet, the arrow on the Jaguars' offense is pointing up, and Shorts's stock should rise along with the others. VERDICT: BUY

Doug Baldwin

Week 7 line: 7 receptions, 123 yards, TD, 11 targets

While Baldwin's move back into the slot certainly boosts his value, he doesn't have the kind of explosive playmaking abilities to continue putting up the kind of line he did a week ago.

Baldwin is limited by the same factors that limit his quarterback, Russell Wilson. The Seahawks rarely trail, and so they aren't forced into passing situations as often as they were on Sunday against the Rams. Baldwin's usage will go sharply down from what we saw this past weekend. VERDICT: SELL

Jason Witten

Week 7 line: 2 receptions, 27 yards, 2 targets

The Cowboys have spent the majority of the 2014 season with the lead, and that's meant little work for Tony Romo's big tight end.

Romo has leaned heavily on Witten to help move the chains over the years, but the Cowboys have relied on their running game through the first seven weeks of the season. However, the Cowboys are using DeMarco Murray at a rate that he simply won't be able to hold up to.

There's going to come a time this season when the Cowboys will be forced to abandon the run and turn to Witten. Owners will want Witten on their side when that time comes. VERDICT: BUY

Antonio Gates

Week 7 line: 3 receptions, 61 yards, TD, 5 targets

The No. 3 fantasy tight end is currently second among players at his position in touchdowns.

Youngster Ladarius Green was expected to represent a changing of the guard at the position at some point this season. While he's been hit or miss, Gates's production has declined since a pair of a strong outings to open the season.

Over the last five weeks, Gates has caught one, three, four, three, and three passes. He's become entirely touchdown dependent. While that's not the worst thing at the tight end position, there are better options out there. Get out while the going's still good. VERDICT: SELL
