The Minnesota Wild have signed young forward Charlie Coyle to a five-year extension, as announced on the team's website Wednesday. Michael Russo of the Star Tribune reports the contract is worth $16 million.

Coyle, 22, has two points in four games this season, and tallied 30 points in 70 games last season.

Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher said Wednesday, "Charlie’s size, overall skill set, and character give him a chance to emerge as a top power forward in the game and we’re happy he will be doing that in the State of Hockey for years to come."
