Lincecum exits Game 2 with lower back tightness

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

Tim Lincecum's 2014 postseason debut didn't last long.

The San Francisco Giants right-hander was removed from Game 2 of the World Series in the eighth inning with lower back tightness. He left the field with trainer Dave Groeschner after throwing 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief.

"His lower back tightened up pretty good on him," manager Bruce Bochy said after the game, according to Erik Boland of Newsday

Lincecum struck out two and threw 13 of his 23 pitches for strikes before exiting the contest. It was his first appearance since throwing two innings of relief on Sept. 28.

The former two-time Cy Young Award winner's availability for the remainder of the series is unclear.
