Former Cowboy Jason Hatcher content in Washington

Jason Hatcher spent eight season in a Dallas Cowboys uniform. On Monday, he'll face his former team for the first time as a member of the Washington Redskins.

Given the success the Cowboys are enjoying this season, it's reasonable to wonder whether Hatcher regrets leaving Dallas. But he insists there is nowhere else he'd rather be.

"I don't think about it at all," Hatcher told Rainer Sabin of the Dallas Morning News. "I am a Redskin at heart. This is my team. This is my organization. I love them to death … I'm excited where I'm at right now."

Hatcher had the best season of career in 2013, recording 41 tackles and a team-high 11 sacks under defensive line coach Rod Marinelli.

"He just took to the system last year and really worked day in and day out," said Marinelli, who is now the Cowboys defensive coordinator. "He put a great year in for us. He really turned his whole career around last year. He was a dominant rusher and run player, all of it."

When the Cowboys parted ways with defensive end DeMarcus Ware in March, Hatcher had a feeling his days in Dallas were numbered. Two days after Ware's release, Hatcher signed a four-year, $27.5-million deal with the Redskins.

"It was a lot of different things, and talking to different people that were a big part of the organization ... I kind of had a feeling," he said. "It was one of those things. I knew it was kind of coming."

Hatcher harbors no ill will against his former team, though.

"I knew it wouldn't be long until those guys (started) playing well," Hatcher said. "I know what kind of work they put in, and it's finally paying off for them. I don't wish nobody bad in this league at all, because I understand how hard it is to win. So I'm happy for those guys."
