2008 - Aaron Rodgers signs six-year extension with Packers

The Green Bay Packers sign quarterback Aaron Rodgers to a six-year, $65 million contract extension through the 2014 season.

"It's surreal and it's humbling," Rodgers, the Packers' 2005 first-round draft pick, says after the deal is announced. "I mean, I'm in shock. I did not expect this at all."

The 2008 season marks Rodgers' first as a starting quarterback after spending the previous three as the backup to Brett Favre. He appears in all 16 games for the Packers, throwing for 4,038 yards and 28 touchdowns.

1987 - Eric Dickerson traded to Colts

The Los Angeles Rams send running back Eric Dickerson to the Indianapolis Colts as part of a three-way deal that includes 10 players and draft picks

The mastermind behind the blockbuster trade is 28-year-old Colts general manager Jim Irsay, who kicks things off by trading the rights to rookie linebacker Cornelius Bennett to Buffalo for running back Greg Bell and three draft picks.

Indianapolis then sends Bell and the three draft picks along with its own first- and second-round picks in 1988, a second-round pick in 1989 and running back Owen Gill to the Rams for Dickerson.
