Report: Diamondbacks scouting director to accept position with Brewers

Reuters

Arizona Diamondbacks scouting director Ray Montgomery reportedly left the organization Friday to become special assistant to the general manager and vice president of scouting for the Milwaukee Brewers, according to Nick Piecoro of AZCentral.

Montgomery, who interviewed for two different general manager positions within the last four months, previously spent eight seasons with the Brewers in their amateur scouting department before joining the Diamondbacks in 2010.

The 45-year-old enjoyed a brief stint in the majors as an outfielder with the Houston Astros, compiling a .241/.281/.356 line with one home run over 47 games between 1996 and 1998.
