The Toronto Blue Jays have reportedly exercised Adam Lind's option for next season.
Sportsnet's Shi Davidi reports the Blue Jays elected to keep Lind at an annual salary of $7.5 million for 2015. Lind's contract includes an additional option next year valued at $8 million.
Whether Lind plays a 10th season in Toronto still remains to be seen. The first baseman/designated hitter has reportedly drawn interest from teams looking to bolster their lineup with a left-handed bat that prowls on right-handed pitching.
While Lind's value is strictly platoon-based, his .402 weighted on-base percentage against righties over the last two seasons would be the fourth-best mark in baseball, if qualified. Lind has produced 64 percent more runs than league average against right-handers since 2013 - the sixth-highest mark in the majors.
The Blue Jays also reportedly declined Sergio Santos's option for next season. Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith reports Santos received a $750,000 buy out after the Blue Jays passed on his 2015 option valued at $6 million. The hard-throwing right-hander will now become a free agent.
