Coyotes' Gormley recalled from AHL

Charles LeClaire / USA TODAY Sports

The Phoenix Coyotes are trying to add a little more bite to their blue line.

General Manager Don Maloney announced Monday that the Coyotes recalled defenseman Brandon Gormley and assigned forward Justin Hodgman to the AHL's Portland Pirates.

Gormley, 22, recorded a goal, two assists and six penalty minutes in six games with the Pirates this season.

He was originally drafted 13th overall by the Coyotes at the 2010 Entry Draft, and was held without a point in five games with the big club last season.

Gormley will be called upon to help provide some offense from the blue line, which is non-existent in Arizona beyond Keith Yandle and Oliver-Ekman Larsson.
