Wizards' Nene out Tuesday vs. Hawks
The only definite thing about the right foot plantar fasciitis plaguing Nene is that it will keep him out of the lineup on Tuesday.
The Brazilian will miss the Washington Wizards' game against the Atlanta Hawks because of the issue, which forced him out of Saturday's game after just six minutes. Plantar fasciitis generally lingers, with rest and pain tolerance being the key factors in a return timeline. It's day-to-day until it's not, and even then, it may still be.
Nene also fought through plantar fasciitis in his left foot during the 2012-13 season. Head coach Randy Wittman has sounded confident that Nene won't miss a large chunk of time, but the team has yet to provide a firm timetable for his recovery.
In 11 games this season, Nene is averaging 10.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists, though the team has played better with him on the court despite the modest numbers. Drew Gooden started the one game Nene missed earlier in the year, but Kris Humphries will draw the start on Tuesday.
