One year removed from signing Omar Infante to a three-year, $30-million deal, the Kansas City Royals have made the 32-year-old available in trade talks, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.
Infante was an overwhelming disappointment in his first season in Missouri, while posting a career-low .252 average and .295 on-base percentage in 135 games.
Year | GP | HR | RBI | AVG/OBP/SLG |
---|---|---|---|---|
2014 | 135 | 6 | 66 | .252/.295/.337 |
2013 | 118 | 10 | 51 | .318/.345/.450 |
2012 | 149 | 12 | 53 | .274/.300/.419 |
Christian Colon could represent an internal replacement should the Royals try to trade Infante. The 25-year-old spent the majority of last season in Triple-A, but in 48 at-bats in the majors the team's first-round pick in 2010 slashed .333/.375/.489 with five doubles and a pair of stolen bases.
